There is a steep driveway on the side of my apartment building. Sometimes cars skid because the the hill is so steep and awkward that a tire or two will lift off the ground.
Well this happened about an hour ago. Only it resulted in the car hitting the building next door and getting stuck between the two buildings. The guy's only solution? Try to reverse up the hill on which his tires are not touching. He has been skidding out for an hour. There is no longer any rubber on his tires. I know this because the fumes are eating my face.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Also, if you continue to squeal all night I will slash your tires.

I just have a quick question. Why is it acceptable to allow men to decide what can and cannot happen in my uterus?
Today's congressional hearing about birth control involved zero women. What?
For those who don't follow United States politics, the question is whether or not religious institutions should be required to subsidize the cost of birth control.
I'm not going to get into what I think about the situation, because that's not my point right now.
My point is that regardless of your beliefs/opinions, it's hardly fair to have a discussion about something that greatly impacts the lives of women without actually having any women discuss it. The women who were present in the room (mind you, none were on the panel) were hardly allowed to speak. What year is this?
Do you have a uterus? No? Oh, so maybe you're not the most qualified spokesperson.
Perhaps we should gather a council of women to discuss whether or not secular institutions should cover the cost of circumcisions.
I've discussed this with a few of my male friends in the past. Not this topic specifically, but abortion and their belief that they do, in fact, have a say in what goes on in a women's uterus. I have wondered why some of our rights as women are constantly threatened. We outnumber males and that should guarantee some amount of power. Our collective voice should be stronger that it is. So what's the deal, I thought. Why do men continue to think that their opinion counts when it comes to what goes on in my body? Why aren't women making as big of an impact as they should be? Because, and I almost threw up, many women agree with men! Fuck that.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of abortion, two people have a say in what happens. The woman and the man who made the baby (except in cases of rape or other extenuating circumstances). Those are the only two people who should really get a say in what happens. They can weigh their personal beliefs accordingly. In the end, though, it's the woman's body so she kind of gets the final say.
DeleteWho shouldn't be involved? The rest of society. It's not YOUR fucking body.
That drives me absolutely nuts. Of course, abortion is still illegal here, so...
ReplyDeleteIn theory we have a separation of church and state in the US. In practice? Not so much.
DeleteIt pisses me off that no women were on the panel. It doesn't make sense and seems really dated. Sorry your Friday got started off with a rant...I hope your weekend goes a little more smoothly for you!
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't make any sense.
DeleteAnd thanks, I'm going on vacation this weekend so I think it'll get much better!
You would think that at least one of the guys on the panel would have noticed how completely ludicrous it was going to look to have an all male panel discussing birth control.
ReplyDeleteYou would think....
DeleteDisgusting.
ReplyDeleteIt infuriates me when men are in control of issues like these. Not only should women be on the panel, in my opinion, it should be solely women.
That guy with the tires deserves to get his left nut run over.
This is why I think we should have an all women's panel about circumcision.
DeleteIt's just so backwards. They were also using masculine pronouns through the entire thing like "man" and "mankind". Seriously? So man should be concerned about mankind's access to birth control? Ahh.
Sometimes I wonder what year we're living in. Get out of my vag! And stop making decisions for body parts that you don't even have!
ReplyDeleteI think you should have taken a video on this moron burning his tires out. I'd watch it.
Amen.
DeleteAnd you're right, I definitely should have.
It's the American government. I've come to expect nothing but incompetence over the last few years, and they have blissfully exceeded my expectations time and time again. I don't think anyone should have a right to tell you what you can and can't put in your body. People who cram their beliefs down your throat sicken me. They're about as smart as your friend who burned away his tires.
ReplyDelete~Shane
I wouldn't be surprised if my tire friend was a legislator.
Delete1) totally slash his tires. He deserves it
ReplyDelete2) I shall make no comment on them deciding the uses of your uterus simply because I am a man and should have no say about it whatsoever.
1)Really thought about it.
Delete2)Appreciated.
